It has been announced that Tammy Whitcomb, acting Inspector General, has been appointed by the USPS Board of Governors as the third Inspector General of the U.S. Postal Service.

WASHINGTON – The Governors of the U.S. Postal Service today announced the appointment of Tammy L. Whitcomb as the third Inspector General of the U.S. Postal Service. The Office of Inspector General conducts audits and investigations to promote efficiency, and detect and prevent fraud, in Postal Service programs and operations.
Ms. Whitcomb has been acting Inspector General since February 2016 and served as Deputy Inspector General since November 2011. She also served as the Assistant Inspector General for Audit. Tammy joined the Postal Service in November 2005 as an Audit Director.
Ms. Whitcomb began her government career at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Inspection Service, and transitioned with them as a part of the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), established in early 1999. During her career at TIGTA, she was an Audit Manager in Dallas, TX for several years before coming to Washington D.C. as the Director of the Office of Management and Policy. Ms. Whitcomb holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Business Administration and is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Information Systems Auditor.
